RESOLUTION NO. „2.2 ;7c <br /> A RESOLUTION requesting the Washington State Legislature <br /> to pass a law prohibiting the Washington Public Power <br /> Supply System from levying property taxes <br /> 1 <br /> 2 <br /> 3 WHEREAS, the City of Everett, Snohomish County, the Everett <br /> School District, and other public agencies are substantially dependent on <br /> 4 funding essential public services through the property tax; and <br /> 5 WHEREAS, said public agencies are presently struggling to <br /> 6 recover from the reduction of their tax base due to the loss of the <br /> inventory tax; and <br /> 7 WHEREAS, the Washington Public Power Supply System has other <br /> 8 means to derive necessary revenues; <br /> 9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF EVERETT that the City of Everett does not favor the use of property <br /> 10 tax levies to finance Washington Public Power Supply System (WPPSS) costs <br /> 11 and operations and requests the Washington State Legislature to pass a law <br /> 12 prohibiting the Washington Public Power Supply System from levying any <br /> property tax now or in the future. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 <br /> 15 1 <br /> If/' , <br /> 16 C. ncilman introducing resolution <br /> 17 <br /> Passed and Approved this 18th day of May, 1983. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 <br /> 20 ou <br /> Cncil President <br /> 21 /:. / AU/ t <br /> 22 <br /> 23 riPr- _/ L <br /> 24 <br /> 251)CC'''.*.-11. • <br /> —26 <br /> 27 <br /> 28 <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
