<br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor to execute 1983-84
<br /> "Human Needs" contracts totaling $49,000

<br /> 'WHEREAS, the Human Needs Committee of the Everett City Council
<br /> 2
<br /> has ascertained by study and interview that assisting human service agencies
<br /> 3 listed below to help meet the continuing or one-time needs of their various
<br /> 4 clients is a proper function of the City of Everett, and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Human Needs Committee has voted to recommend
<br /> 5
<br /> funding, as listed below, for these programs from the 1983 Budget allocation
<br /> 6 for Human Needs;
<br /> 7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT
<br /> 8 that the Mayor be authorized to execute a contract with each of these
<br /> below-listed agencies in the amount specified for the purpose stated:

<br /> 1) Everett Gospel Mission, PO Box 423, Everett $ 5,800.00
<br /> 10 Provide food, clothing, lodging, counseling
<br /> to transient men
<br /> 11 2) Hospice of Snohomish County, PO Box 5559, Everett 4,000.00
<br /> Provide bereavement follow-up care to family
<br /> 12 survivors
<br /> 13 3) The Salvation Army, PO Box 1184, Everett 2,000.00
<br /> Provide rental assistance to needy families
<br /> 14 4) Volunteers of America, 2801 Lombard, Everett 2,700.00
<br /> Support increasing load on CARE Crisis Line
<br /> 15 (24-hour emergency counseling and referral
<br /> service)
<br /> 16
<br /> 5) Counterpoint Council , Inc. , 2016 Pacific, Everett 1,000.00
<br /> 17 Counseling fees for emotionally disturbed
<br /> low-income adolescents and families
<br /> 18 6) Red Cross Adult Day Health Center, 2913 W. Marine View Dr. ,
<br /> Everett 2,300.00
<br /> 19 Weekday program for frail older people needing
<br /> help and some medical supervision to stay out
<br /> 20 of nursing homes and survive independently
<br /> 21 7) Stop Abuse, 2731 - 10th St. , Everett 2,500.00
<br /> Provide part of food and shelter utilities at
<br /> 22 shelter-home, and some kitchen appliances
<br /> 23 8) Association for Retarded Citizens, 1801 Hewitt, Everett 10,000.00
<br /> Assist Representative Payee program (all
<br /> 24 budgeting, banking, bill-paying, accounting
<br /> and reporting) for retarded persons and families
<br /> now receiving 79 Social Security, SSI , and
<br /> 25 General Assistance checks ($263,000) each
<br /> month by providing a small computer and some
<br /> 26 office help
<br /> 27 9) Evergreen Manor, Inc. , 2601 Summit Ave. , Everett 600.00
<br /> Match their funds for intensive outpatient
<br /> 28 treatment of low income alcoholics
