RESOLUTION NO.,,Re. <br /> A RESOLUTION accepting the Port Gardner <br /> neighborhood's recommendation for expenditure <br /> of approximately $60,120.00 of Community Development <br /> Block Grant funds; specifying the improvements to be <br /> made; and authorizing the preparation of a Plans and <br /> Systems Ordinance for construction and project <br /> implementation in the Spring and Summer of 1983. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has recognized the need to improve public facilities <br /> and the livability of the Port Gardner area; and <br /> WHEREAS, on January 19, 1983, the City Council authorized approximately <br /> $60,120.00 of Community Development Block Grant funds for improvements to the <br /> Port Gardner area as part of the City of Everett's 1983 Community Development <br /> Block Grant application; and <br /> WHEREAS, on March 14, 1983, residents of the Port Gardner neighborhood <br /> held a neighborhood-wide meeting at which residents voted on proposed projects; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Everett <br /> that: <br /> I. The following projects as recommended by Port Gardner residents, be <br /> implemented or constructed with the $60,120.00 available through the <br /> Community Development Block Grant Program. (The project which received <br /> the greatest number of votes is listed as "1", the project which received the <br /> next greatest number of votes is listed as "2", etc.). <br /> 1. Pedestrian walkway on Charles Avenue east of Friday. Estimated cost: <br /> $5,000. <br /> 2. Install curb and gutter on 43rd Street from the alley west of Rucker to <br /> Grand Avenue. Esttimate cost: $3,750. <br /> 3. Sidewalks replaced on the south side of street, 900 Block of Wall Street. <br /> Estimated cost: $3,750. <br /> 4. Construct new curb and gutter on both sides and sidewalk on one side of <br /> the 3600 Block of Friday, from Earl to Clinton. Estimated cost: <br /> $50,000. <br /> II. The Mayor be instructed to have a Plans and Systems Ordinance prepared and <br /> presented to the City Council which will officially authorize and fund the <br /> development of contract plans, specifications, and detailed cost estimates for <br /> the improvements listed above. <br /> III. Should costs be less for the above projects than was originally estimated, <br /> projects receiving the next highest priority shall be initiated.
