A preliminary engineering study
recommends replacing its current 35 plus year old dilapidated roof. The study estimates the roof having at
most two years life remaining. The Design-Build process will allow the City to award a contract to the
builder providing the most experience and best value thereby ensuring the best quality and longest life for
the new replacement roof.
The Design-Build process requires the City to advertise for interested and qualified Design-Build teams to
submit their qualifications for consideration. After evaluating the qualification submittals, the City will
short-list up to three of the top rated Design-Build teams from whom to request proposals.
The"Budget Remaining" amount of$2,908,000 is arrived at by deducting the Design-Build advisor
consultant contract for$190,000.00, approved last December, and this $2,000.00 request from the
$3,100,000 amount budgeted.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Request for Qualifications for the Design-Build construction of the Water Filtration Plant's
-Q. 0+ rlenrwP11 Roof Replacement. 0
