RESOLUTION NO. ? .,;? :15--,7 <br /> A RESOLUTION regarding 1983 Election Precinct <br /> Boundary Changes <br /> 1 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Snohomish County Auditor <br /> 2 is planning to draw new election precinct boundaries for the 1983 elections, <br /> 3 and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that all Everett precincts were <br /> 4 <br /> redrawn in 1979, thereby changing 106 precincts to 59, and <br /> 5 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that 1982 Congressional re- <br /> 6 districting required further changes in precinct boundaries, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a confusion factor <br /> 7 <br /> inherent in continual or unnecessary changes in precinct boundaries that is <br /> 8 detrimental to voter participation in elections, and <br /> 9 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that redrawing precinct boundaries <br /> entails considerable preparation expense, as well as the cost of issuing and <br /> 10 <br /> mailing new precinct identification cards to all voters affected, and <br /> 11 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best interests <br /> 12 of the citizens of Everett that all boundary changes be minimized, <br /> 13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT <br /> 14 that the Snohomish County Auditor is hereby requested to limit election <br /> 15 precinct boundary changes within the City of Everett to those necessitated <br /> by legislative redistricting, and, further, that voter identification cards <br /> 16 <br /> be mailed only to those voters affected by the necessary changes. <br /> 17 • <br /> 18 � <br /> Counci man in roducing Resolution <br /> 19 <br /> Passed and approved this day of April , 1983. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 = ' <br /> 22 Council President <br /> 23 <br /> 24 <br /> 25 <br /> 26 <br /> 27 <br /> 28 <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
