RESOLUTION NO. S7 <br /> A RESOLUTION honoring the memory of Everett citizen <br /> Constantine "Pete" Koutlas <br /> 1 <br /> WHEREAS, Constantine "Pete" Koutlas came to the United States <br /> 2 as a Greek emigrant in 1910, worked his way west on a railroad track gang, <br /> and arrived at his cousin's home in Portland with $13 in his pocket, and <br /> 3 <br /> WHEREAS, Constantine "Pete" Koutlas came to Everett, via <br /> 4 lumber mill jobs in Sedro Woolley, and ran a restaurant as the first of <br /> a half-dozen businesses he built here over the following decades, and <br /> 5 <br /> WHEREAS, Constantine "Pete" Koutlas was still actively visiting <br /> 6 the last of his businesses (now operated by his sons) every day until his <br /> death March 27, 1983 at the age of 88 and, <br /> 7 <br /> WHEREAS, Constantine "Pete" Koutlas was often acknowledged as <br /> 8 a successful businessman, he was most proud of his participation on the <br /> Board of Freeholders that wrote the City Charter for Everett in 1968, <br /> 9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT <br /> 10 that, on behalf of the citizens of the City of Everett, the City Council does <br /> 11 acknowledge and honor the services of Constantine "Pete" Koutlas to the City <br /> and the community of Everett in his pursuit of "the American dream" that an <br /> 12 immigrant could do something of lasting value for his new country; and, <br /> 13 further, the members of the City Council do extend sympathy to <br /> 14 his family, as well as share in their pride at the accomplishments of <br /> Constantine "Pete" Koutlas. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 • <br /> 17 �-/ <br /> Alf <br /> C nci an tr u ng a ution <br /> 18 <br /> Passed and approved this day of March, 1983. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 <br /> Council President <br /> 21 <br /> 22 <br /> 23 <br /> 24 <br /> 25 <br /> 26 <br /> 27 <br /> 2R <br />
