EVERETT COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />Policy 7.2.6 Assist redevelopment efforts by creating development incentives for owners to <br />assemble parcels. <br />Policy 7.2.7 Seek private investment in the redevelopment of the Metropolitan Center. <br />Policy 7.2.8 Improve the visual qualities of the following corridors that connect downtown <br />with Interstate 5, with streetscape improvements such as street tree plantings, landscaping on <br />private properties as they develop or redevelop, and redevelopment with attractive buildings and <br />site development, while retaining and enhancing our freight access routes: <br />Broadway (north of 41 st Street), Everett Avenue, Hewitt Avenue, and Pacific <br />Avenue <br />Policy 7.2.9 Encourage development of an adequate supply of quality hotel space in the <br />Metropolitan Center. <br />Policy 7.2.10 Encourage property owners to maintain their properties through enforcement and <br />pro -active collaboration with downtown business organizations and the Downtown Business <br />Improvement Association (BIA). <br />C. Redevelopment and Improvement Opportunities <br />Goal 7.3 The City of Everett shall encourage redevelopment and improvements to promote <br />economic development and improve the quality and character of Everett's neighborhoods and <br />business districts. <br />Objective 7.3.1 To strengthen code enforcement efforts to clean up the community and <br />encourage investment. <br />Objective 7.3.2 To preserve significant historic structures by rehabilitation, renovation, and <br />adaptive reuse. <br />Objective 7.3.3 To continue to improve Everett's image. <br />Objective 7.3.4 To maximize existing investments in transportation and utility infrastructure <br />of existing commercial and industrial areas. <br />Objective 7.3.5 To integrate needed housing in close proximity to businesses, services, and <br />public transportation. <br />The City should: <br />Policy 7.3.1 Identify and map sites appropriate for redevelopment and improvement. Select <br />areas to do more detailed Subarea Plans for the areas where redevelopment is needed. <br />Policy 7.3.2 Work with the Economic Alliance Snohomish County and the Port of Everett to <br />identify potential redevelopment and enhancement strategies. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ELEMENT 15 <br />
