EVERETT COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
3. Age
A comparison of the age distribution of the population shows significant increases in the
numbers of people who will become senior citizens within the next 20 years. In 1990 senior
citizens represented 15 percent of Everett's senior population. In 2000 and 2010 that percentage
dropped to 10.3 percent. The 45 to 64 age bracket, however, of individuals to become senior
citizens within 20 years has steadily increased from 15 percent of the overall population in 1990,
to 19 percent in 2000, and to 25 percent in 2010.
Figure 3: Age Distribution of the City Of Everett Population
Age Groups in Everett
20,000
18,000
16,000
14,000
12,000
10,000 E 1990
8,000 ■ 2000
6,000 ■ 2010
4,000
2,000
0
< 5 5 to 15 to 25 to 35 to 45 to 55 to 65 to 75 to 85 +
years 14 24 34 44 54 64 74 84
Figure 4: Age Distribution by Percentage in Everett
25.00% Age Groups by Percentage in Everett
20.00%
15.00%
■ 1990
10.00% ■ 2000
■ 2010
5.00%
0.00%
< 5 5 to 15 to 25 to 35 to 45 to 55 to 65 to 75 to 85 +
years 14 24 34 44 54 64 74 84
INTRODUCTION 18
