B/B1609-01511
We are responding to permit application comments dated September 19,2016. (Note that the
comments were not received until October 18, 2016 after an inquiry as to the status of the permit). The
following outline provides each of the City comments in italics along with a narrative response describing
how each comment is addressed. There are no modifications to the drawings.
1. Everett Municipal Code, 16.01.040 states "Where elevators are required in buildings, at least one
elevator shall be provided for Fire Department emergency access to all floors. The elevator car shall
be of such a size and arrangement to accommodate a 24-inch by 84-inch ambulance stretcher, with
not less than 5-inch radius corners, in the horizontal, open position and shall be identified by the
international symbol for emergency medical services (star of life). The symbol shall not be less than 3
inches high and shall be placed inside on both sides of the door frame".
Response: This requirement was verbally waived on 9/7/2016 by Steve Goforth,Assistant Fire
Marshal of the Everett Fire Department. Please see the attached e-mail confirming the conversation
about the waiver sent to Robert Guymer and Derek Groth of Foushee(the general contractor).
2. The plans indicate, as is required by the IMC, a type 1 hood above the stove in the kitchen. This
installation will require its'own separate permits but the submitted plans do not appear to address
the proper configuration or provision for the grease duct.
Response: The mechanical system is bidder design and under separate permit. The provisions for a
Type 1 (or possibly Type II)exhaust hood will be addressed by the mechanical permit application.
3. A lighting budget to verify compliance with the WSEC is required either with this submittal or with
the electrical permit application.
Response: The lighting budget for the office areas were submitted with the permit. The budget for the
warehouse relies on the shell permit budget(no changes to the warehouse lighting). The originally
submitted Shell and Office lighting budgets are attached for reference.
Please review and approve the above at your earliest convenience. If you have questions or need
additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
to----,-..—/
Randy Brown
Principal Architect
cc: Underwood Gartland LLC;Foushee, Inc.
Enc: E-mail regarding waiver of elevator stretcher requirement;Originally submitted lighting budgets.
12503 Bel-Red Road, Suite 101
Bellevue, WA 98005
425.646.1818
