RESOLUTION NO. /;zo <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing a change in <br /> the 1981 Section 3 Capital Assistance <br /> Grant from two standard size elderly <br /> and handicapped vans to one heavy-duty <br /> modified van <br /> WHEREAS , the elderly and handicapped van service is the <br /> clear choice for transportation of Everett ' s elderly and handi - <br /> capped citizens ; and <br /> WHEREAS , 30 to 75 requests for van service must be turned <br /> down each month while the number of riders continues to rise; and <br /> WHEREAS , this larger van will provide more service <br /> capacity while maintaining operating cost ; and <br /> WHEREAS , currently all three vehicles are used during <br /> the day leaving no spares and reducing the possibility of pre- <br /> ventative maintenance ; and <br /> WHEREAS , this heavy duty van will have a longer life ; and <br /> WHEREAS , purchase of this larger vehicle will improve <br /> the service availability as well as require less maintenance; and <br /> NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL <br /> that : <br /> the capital grant application submitted in 1981 be modi - <br /> fied to purchase one heavy-duty 18-passenger van instead of two <br /> standard size vans . <br /> Councilperson roducing Resolution <br /> Passed and approved this a4 day of May, 1982 . <br /> Council President <br />
