RESOLUTION # / 41/,5— <br /> Declaring <br /> j/,5'Declaring an emergency to exist, and authorizing immediate <br /> repair of damaged transit bus #232 to provide scheduled service <br /> WHEREAS, Everett Transit's operational fleet consists of 23 buses, <br /> and 21 runs are scheduled daily to meet present demands for service, leaving <br /> two for "spares," and <br /> WHEREAS, one bus is now out of service with a blown engine and <br /> two more developed brake problems this morning which may take more than one <br /> day to repair and restore the runs dropped today for lack of equipment, and <br /> WHEREAS, Bus #232 was involved in a collision on February 16, 1981 <br /> which caused damage that will take two weeks to repair at a cost of more than <br /> $3,000, and <br /> WHEREAS, it will take a minimum of two weeks before the repairs <br /> can begin if the regular bid call/bid award process is followed, which will <br /> mean a month out of service for Bus #232, and <br /> WHEREAS, informal bids have been obtained from two local body <br /> shops who could start the repair work immediately, and <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Everett to <br /> avoid dropping bus runs and cutting service wherever possible, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT <br /> that an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and that the Motor Vehicle Depart- <br /> ment is hereby authorized to accept the lower of the two informal quotations <br /> received for repair of Bus #232, and to have Sunset Body Works of Everett begin <br /> work immediately to have this bus back in service by March 6, 1981, for the <br /> sum of $3,017.63, plus tax. ,1 <br /> Councilman introducing resolution <br /> Passed and approved this ,��1 day of February, 1981. <br /> /141: <br /> 41,1 <br /> Cou400,4resid r <br />
