1 RESOLUTION NO. /or, <br /> 2 RESOLUTION authorizing the filing of an application with <br /> the Department of Transportation, United States of America, <br /> 3 for a grant under the Urban Mass Transportation Act of <br /> 1964, as amended. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 WHEREAS, the Secretary of Transportation is authorized to <br /> 6 make grants for mass transportation projects; <br /> 7 WHEREAS, the contract for financial assistance will impose <br /> 8 certain obligations upon the applicant, including the provision by it of <br /> 9 the local share of project costs; <br /> 10 WHEREAS, it is required by the U.S. Department of Transportation <br /> 11 in accord with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, <br /> 12 that in connection with the filing of an application for assistance under <br /> 13 the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, the applicant give an <br /> 14 assurance that it will comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 <br /> 15 and the U.S. Department of Transportation requirements thereunder; and <br /> 16 WHEREAS, it is the goal of the Applicant that minority <br /> 17 business enterprise be utilized to the fullest extent possible in connection <br /> 18 with this project, and that definitive procedures shall be established and <br /> 19 administered to ensure that minority businesses shall have the maximum <br /> 20 feasible opportunity to compete for contracts when procuring construction <br /> 21 contracts, supplies, equipment contracts, or consultant and other services: <br /> 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Everett: <br /> 23 1. That the Mayor is authorized to execute and file an <br /> 24 application on behalf of the City of Everett with the U.S. Department of <br /> 25 Transportation, to aid in the financing of operating assistance projects <br /> 26 pursuant to Section 5 of the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended. <br /> 27 2. That the Mayor is authorized to execute and file with such <br /> 28 applications an assurance or any other document required by the U.S. <br /> 29 Department of Transportation effectuating the purposes of Title VI of the <br /> 30 Civil Rights Act of 1964. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
