1RESOLUTION NO. <br /> 2 <br /> 3 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett believes that the work ethic <br /> 4 is a fundamental concept upon which our country is based; and <br /> 5 WHEREAS, the opportunity to do constructive work for compensation received is <br /> 6 a source of pride and accomplishment for persons receiving such compensation; and <br /> 7 WHEREAS, reasonable opportunities for persons receiving Public Assistance and <br /> 8 other governmental subsidies to provide contributions through service to their <br /> 9 communities should be made available to persons able to make such contributions; and <br /> 10 WHEREAS, those able persons receiving Public Assistance and other <br /> 11 governmental subsidies who make contributions to their communities through service <br /> 12 could benefit by taking pride and personal satisfaction in the work performed and, at <br /> 13 the same time, there could be a benefit to the community through the work product <br /> 14 generated; and <br /> 15 WHEREAS, the history of our City and our nation has profound examples of <br /> 16 community contributions made through programs designed to encourage work <br /> 17 performance from under-utilized people receiving Public Assistance and other <br /> 18 governmental subsidies. <br /> 19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> 20 OF EVERETT that the Honorable Dixy Lee Ray, and the Legislature and Departments of <br /> 21 the State of Washington should explore, design and implement programs to utilize able <br /> 22 persons receiving Public Assistance and other governmental subsidies in projects that <br /> 23 allow an opportunity to perform services to the community which through the work <br /> 24 product created will enhance and benefit the communities in which they live. <br /> 25 ( f <br /> .ate-7 <br /> 26 .��`'., /J, <br /> Councilperson Introduci g Resolution <br /> 27 <br /> 28 PASSED and APPROVED this / day of July, 1980. <br /> 29 <br /> 6,0 P.
