Wooded/greenbelt areas <br /> Search and rescue operations, under the supervision of the Search Operations Group <br /> . Supervisor, should consider the following: <br /> 1. Organized search activities should be initiated in conjunction with deployment of <br /> • the ICART if they have not already begun; rapid deployment is essential to <br /> confining the search area. <br /> 2. Initiating/continuing hasty searches and containment efforts <br /> 3. Consulting with the Field Investigations Group Supervisor to formulate a search <br /> plan based on investigative priorities <br /> 4. Good quality maps and overhead photographs are essential <br /> 5. Search team leaders must be thoroughly briefed with all the information needed <br /> to conduct a proper search, including what to do if evidence is located <br /> 6. All areas capable of concealing the victim must be searched, including, but not <br /> limited to: <br /> a, Closets <br /> b. Basements <br /> c. Attics <br /> d. Crawl spaces <br /> e. Refrigerators . <br /> f. Cabinets <br /> g. Washing machines and dryers <br /> h. Piles of laundry <br /> • i: Vehicles—passenger areas and trunks <br /> 9. All search activities must be thoroughly documented as to location searched and <br /> personnel utilized to include the date and time of the search <br /> 10. Log every searcher into and out of the search scene <br /> 11. Once a search has begun, restrict all non-searchers from the area <br /> 12. Establish separate evidence collection and processing teams <br /> 13. Safety and security of searchers must be considered if the suspect is at large <br /> 14. Document all search efforts on appropriate ICART forms and forward to the Lead <br /> Management Group for entry into WebEOC. <br /> 15 <br /> 69 <br />
