Utilize standardized questions on ICART forms in addition to case specific <br /> questions as determined by investigators. <br /> q. Canvassers should interview each person.separately. <br /> r. Obtain consent to search the residence for the child only, emphasizing this <br /> is for the safe return of the child. <br /> i. Be prepared for refusals <br /> ii. Have search warrant templates prepared <br /> iii. Have access to legal advisors, prosecutors and judges contact <br /> information <br /> iv. Identify residents who have lived in the area for a long time, to <br /> provide background and insight into normal activities <br /> s. Unusual or troublesome neighbors should be identified, as should any <br /> • <br /> residents who have been the subject of law enforcement attention <br /> t. Document the presence of all vehicles within the area and compare <br /> registration information to names learned during canvass operations. <br /> u. ID contractors/businesses recently conducting work projects in vicinity <br /> v. ID non-residents who might have been in area at time (postal carriers, <br /> delivery drivers, city/county work crews) <br /> w. Conduct business canvass utilizing same principles as outlined above and <br /> appropriate ICART forms as found in the appendix section of this protocol. <br /> x. Conduct video canvass seeking sources (private, security cameras, traffic <br /> cameras, ATM video) of possible video evidence. <br /> y. Conduct sex offender canvass utilizing same principles as outlined above <br /> and appropriate ICART forms as found in the appendix section of this <br /> protocol. <br /> z. Conduct roadside canvass operations utilizing appropriate ICART forms <br /> as found in the appendix section of this protocol. <br /> i. In immediate aftermath can help to contain area <br /> ii. Seek consent to search, including trunk <br /> iii. ID individuals who routinely travel in area <br /> • iv. Repeat canvass during "window of opportunity"the following day <br /> and day of week <br /> v. ID all occupants <br /> vi.
