Good Afternoon
My name is John Van Dalen
My amateur radio call is N7AME
1316 Hoyt Ave
Everett, WA 98201
I am here this afternoon to personally thank the Mayor for the Resolution
declaring this week AMATUER RADIO WEEK in the City of Everett.
I am an active member of the Snohomish County Hams Club; WA7LAW
and many of our over 100 members live and work in Everett. Many of us
fulfill the "WHEREAS" statements and many are CERT certified which will
help our local neighbors and the city recover from a natural disaster.
We are from all walks of life but we come together to use our time
communicating to every county around the world.
This past weekend was the Amateur Radio Relay League's annual Field
Day. Field Day is an exercise to leave our homes and join others around the
country to setup self sustaining encampments and to communicate with each
other. The ARRL is the premier amateur radio club in the US with over
170,000 members. By the way, there are well over 700,000 licensed
amateurs ranging from the age of 8 to 102 years old, who are licensed and
operating radio equipment.
WA7LAW is our callsign. This weekend our club communicated with
over 500 stations using Morse code, voice and digital communications.
Many of the other stations were also encamped in national, state and city
parks around the country.
So, on behalf of all ham radio clubs, THANK YOU for declaring
AMATUER RADIO WEEK. I want to also thank Scott Bader and Cassie
Franklin for visiting our site at Harborview Park the site Saturday.
Are there any questions or comments
Thank you
6/28/2017
