J
DESIGNzu FIELD Rrio
f 5
Project.Name: ! Everett River Front- Simpson Report: 124
GeoDesign #: Polygon-127-01 Date: 10/10/2016
Reports with Unresolved Nonconformance Issues: Permit:
PW 1505-005
Nick Abdelnour(Polygon) Randy Allen(City of Everett) Weather: Clear, 50's
Ron Bowen(Polygon) Eddy Stevens(Polygon) Arrival/Departure: 1700/1830
Distribution:
Doug Ross(Polygon) Kirk Keck(City of Everett)
Paul McKee(City of Everett) Dave Foster(City of Everett) Prepared By: Ben Weinberg, E.I.T.
m Site Plan(s) m Density Test_Summary Signature:
Attachments: Installation Records Other
Reviewed By: /?X
PURPOSE of VISIT: GeoDesign representative, Benjamin Weinberg, was on-site part time at the request of John Feltner
with Polygon to observe the foundation subgrade from Lots 164, 165, and 119. Upon arrival, GeoDesign spoke with John
Feltner.
SUMMARY of OBSERVATIONS:
Lot 164:
Upon arrival, GeoDesign noted that the foundation excavation subcontractor had completed excavation of the footing and
crawl space area for Lot 164. GeoDesign noted that the exposed footing subgrade for Lot 164 generally consisted of a gray
and brown silty SAND (f-m)with gravel (f-c) which could be penetrated generally less than 4 inches. GeoDesign noted an
approximately 15 feet long section in the north corner of the foundation area which could be probed 1 to 1.5 feet and
recommended that the material be over-excavated down to firm and unyielding material and be replaced with a structural fill
material.
Relative compaction of the exposed footing subgrade area was tested using a Troxler 3430 Moisture-Density Gauge.
In-place density tests indicated that the exposed foundation subgrade materials had been compacted to greater than 95%
of its maximum dry density as determined by a Modified Proctor analysis. With the exception of the previously mentioned
area, it is GeoDesign's opinion that the exposed footing subgrade observed today is currently suitable for support of the
intended structure. GeoDesign recommends that any loose and saturated material be removed from the base of the footing
areas prior to the placement of concrete.
Lot 165:
Upon arrival, GeoDesign noted that the foundation excavation subcontractor had completed excavation of the footing and
crawl space area for Lot 165. GeoDesign noted that the exposed footing subgrade material for Lot 165 consisted of a gray
silty SAND (f-m)with gravel (f-c) and gray-brown SAND (f-m) with silt which could generally be probed less than 3 inches.
In-place density tests taken on the exposed footing subgrade materials indicated that the materials had been compacted to
greater than 95%of its maximum dry density as determined by a Modified Proctor analysis.
It is GeoDesign's opinion that the exposed footing subgrade observed today is currently suitable for support of the intended
structure. GeoDesign recommends that any loose and saturated material be removed from the base of the footing areas
prior to the placement of concrete.
This reportpresents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnlcal engineering or environmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative.
