DESIGN-u7 FIELD REPORT,—
Project Name: Everett River Front- Simpson _ _ Report: 019
GeoDesign#: Polygon-127-03 Date: 12/30/2016
Reports with Unresolved Nonconformance Issues: Permit:
PW1505-005
whyMNAMNick Abdelnour(Polygon) I Randy Allen(City of Everett) Weather: Cloudy,40's
Ron Bowen(Polygon) 1 Eddy Stevens(Polygon) Arrival/Departure: 0900/1000
Distribution: — -
Doug Ross(Polygon) Kirk Keck(City of Everett)
_... ......... ....... --- -. _
(City _
Paul McKee(City of Everett) Dave Foster Ci of Everett) Prepared By. Ben Weinberg, E.I.T.
m Site Plan(s) ❑ Density Test Summary Signature: '-y:
Attachments:
❑ Installation Records ❑ other I Reviewed By:
PURPOSE of VISIT: GeoDesign representative, Benjamin Weinberg, was on-site part time at the request of John Feltner
with Polygon to observe the foundation subgrade for Lots 168 and 169.
SUMMARY of OBSERVATIONS:
Lot 168:
Previously, GeoDesign noted surficially loose and saturated material beneath the footing areas for Lot 168. Today,
GeoDesign noted that the foundation excavation subcontractor had removed most of the surficially loose and saturated
material from the base of the lot area. While on-site, GeoDesign noted a few locations along the west side with
approximately 3 inches of loose saturated material which was removed with a concrete rake while on-site. Penetration
depths for the exposed footing subgrade were generally less than 2 inches.
It is the opinion of GeoDesign that the exposed footing subgrade is currently suitable for support of the intended structure.
GeoDesign recommends that any surficially loose or saturated material that may build up under the footing area be
removed prior to the placement of concrete.
Lot 169:
Previously, GeoDesign noted surficially loose and saturated material beneath the footing areas for Lot 169. Today,
GeoDesign noted that the foundation excavation subcontractor had removed most of the surficially loose and saturated
material from the base of the lot area. While on-site, GeoDesign noted that the southeast corner of the foundation area was
submerged with approximately 3 inches of underlying loose soil. GeoDesign recommends that the southeast comer of the
foundation area be dewatered and loose material removed with a shovel and/or concrete rake prior to the placement of
concrete. Penetration depths for the exposed footing subgrade were generally less than 2 inches.
A summary of our observations can be found in the attached Figure 1. John Feltner with Polygon was notified of our
observations prior to our departure from the site.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project Irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not include supervision or direction of the contractor, the contractors employees
or agents. Our firm is not responsible for site safety. This field repot is a DRAFT representation of our field observations, testing, and preliminary recommendations. The report can only be considered
final upon review of the GeoDesign project manager,as indicated by initials in the"Reviewed W section.
10700 Meridian Avenue North,Suite 402 1 Seattle,WA 98133 1 206.838.9900
2502 Jefferson Avenue I Tacoma,WA 98402 1 253.203.0095
a.
