The presentations have included information regarding the perspectives of the City
and the Y on the key"business"terms of a potential agreement, potential funding implications for future City
park development projects and information related to swimming as an activity at the national, state and local
levels. A summary of the key differences and similarities of YMCA agreements with other cities has also
been provided.
Since the last presentation on June 28,2017, staff has continued to discuss with Y staff whether the initial
differences in each agency's perspectives could be bridged to both facilitate the development of a new
neighborhood park and increase community access to indoor aquatic recreation within the City.
As of this time, progress has been made. City staff will brief the Council on proposed key terms that can
serve as a basis for a partnership agreement. Y representatives will also be present at the briefing should
council members have questions specific to the Y. Based on Council discussion and direction, staff is
prepared to work with Y staff to develop an agreement for Council consideration at a future meeting.
1
