" Ted Budden
From: Kevin Fagerstrom
Sent: Monday, November 16, 2015 3:43 PM
To: Steve Goforth; Anne Weech
Cc: Rick Robinson
Subject: RE: 1902 Virginia
We'll open a case, Thanks!
From: Steve Goforth
Sent: Monday, November 16, 2015 3:37 PM
To: Kevin Fagerstrom; Anne Weech
Cc: Rick Robinson
Subject: 1902 Virginia
Kevin,
One of the Fire Captains Curt Low called to tell me about a call they went on at 1902 Virginia. The tenant whose
apartment you enter in from the south side ground floor is named Patrick.
He called 911 because he was shocked by some of the bare wiring in the apartment. While on the call the engine
captain and crew noticed bare electrical wiring, no junction boxes, open sheetrock and a natural gas line going through
one corner of the apartment.
I was given permission by Patrick to document these things on my visit this afternoon. I will make a CD and drop off
tomorrow.
While I was there the maintenance person called Mr. Larenzo, the owner of the property. He told me that the tenant is
being evicted so that they can fix the deficiencies. I gave him your offices number to contact. He may have already
done so.
I told the tenant that my documentation will probably confirm that this was not a habitable apartment as it stands. He
agreed. As far as his legal rights I told him I would print off the Washington State Landlord-Tenant Rights for him and
drop them off on my way out of town.
Patrick does not have internet at this time.
Thanks
Steve Goforth
Fire Inspector
Everett Fire Department
sgoforth@everettwa.gov
425-257-8104 office
425-754-4576 cell
425-257-8120 main fire prevention line
1
