The requirement that we have on our end is the following:
388-76-10700
Building official — Inspection and approval.
The adult family home must have the building inspected and approved for use as an adult family home by the local
building official:
(1) Before licensing; and
(2) After any construction changes that:
(a) Affect resident's ability to exit the home; or
(b) Change, add or modify a resident's bedroom.
So, the AFH owners need to have your building inspector fill out the AFH Building Inspection Checklist again. Whether or
not you want to grandfather in the existing bathrooms or require them to meet current building code is up to you as we
do not have a regulation that says anything one way or the other. The regulation above just says that you guys need to
approve it. In my experience, whatever you decide,we will back you up. Hope that non-answer is helpful. Let me know if
you have any more questions.
Have a great day!!
Shannon M. The two new bedrooms on the first floor have access to a half bathroom on the main floor, but will be using the
common bathroom upstairs for bathing.
Is the common bathroom on the second floor required to be upgraded for grab bars required per 2012 IRC section
R325.8?
The applicant is Temperly's Long Term Care Family Home, located at 2216 127th PL SE, Everett, 98208
1
