Ted de Budden
From: Ted de Budden
Sent: Tuesday, April 25, 2017 1:28 PM
To: Donald Cunningham
Cc: Jeff Heilman
Subject: 2709 California Ave. W 1-76"4— Q1
Don,
We responded to an anonymous complaint concerning the "possible conversion of a detached garage to an apartment"
at 2709 California Ave.
The complaint turned out to be valid. A detached residential garage located to the north of the main house is actively
being converted from a vehicle garage to dwelling use, without required permits and approvals.
I posted a Stop Work Order and an Unlawful Structure placard on the adjacent gate. While there, the owner Mr.
Porciuncula arrived. Mr. Porcuincula stated to us that he had inquired about the permit costs and associated
requirements. He stated that the "costs were too high and had made the decision to create the apartment quietly."
A sewer connection has already been made without approvals in the alley, and a significant amount of construction
work has been done to create this illegitimate dwelling.
Due to the bold and brazen comments made by the owner about avoiding regulations, I request enforcement action be
taken as soon as your schedule will allow.
Thankyou
Ted M.de Budden
Chief Inspector
Everett Building Department
425.257 7271
f
1
