* elP ORDINANCE NO. 2952-06 AN ORDINANCE repealing Ordinance No. 1888-92 and creating an operations and maintenance fund entitled Municipal Arts Fund No. 112 authorizing the operations and maintenance of the Everett Performing Arts Center, the Municipal Arts Program, and the 1% for Arts Program. WHEREAS, the city recognizes its responsibility to develop and foster cultural arts and to initiate, sponsor, organize and promote cultural, historic and artistic programs and services for the enrichment and enjoyment of the citizens of Everett; and WHEREAS, Municipal Arts will provide Everett with a superior cultural environment where the arts, culture and heritage opportunities will thrive and ensure that the arts are integral to our community's quality of life, economic vitality and central identity; and WHEREAS, the Municipal Arts Department will work with community partners in government, business leaders, art professionals and artists to foster the arts through collaboration, information and education; and WHEREAS, Cultural Arts is a cornerstone to urban and neighborhood revitalization and contributes substantially and directly to the economic development vitality, growth and prosperity of the City; and WHEREAS, the Everett Performing Art Center- Fund 112 was established in 1992 and provides a focal point for cultural experiences and is a benefit to a broad spectrum of community audiences through the support of the performing arts, music and dance; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it beneficial to expand the purpose of Fund 112 to include the Municipal Arts Program and the 1% for Arts Program; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: An operations and maintenance fund is hereby established as Fund No. 112 entitled "Municipal Arts Fund" to accomplish the actions authorized in the subsequent sections of the ordinance. Section 2: Authorization is hereby given to proceed with the steps necessary to operate and maintain the Everett Performing Arts Center, the Municipal Arts Program, and the 1% for Arts Program within the Municipal Arts Fund.
