DIBBLE ENGINEERS INC
June 15, 2016
Mr. Brian Bodge
3015 Everett Avenue
Everett,WA 982.01
Re: Bargreen Property Sign Pole
Dei Project#: 16-224
Dear Mr. Bodge:
Dibble Engineers Inc.(DEI) has complete a structural review of the proposed commercial sign pole and footing for
installation at the address given above. Per the drawings provided Mr. Bodge dated 4/26/2016, the pole will consist of
a 12ft tall HSS8x8x1/4 pole with a 13ft tall Pipe 5"Standard pole fastened on top. The upper pipe section of the pole
will support a 10'-0"wide x 5'-0"tall sign and two 6'-0"wide x 4'-0"tall signs face mounted to the pole per the:sign
manufacturer. The pole will be anchored to a pre-cast 2'-6"diameter x 8'-0"deep concrete footing with 4000psi
compressive strength. The pole will be anchored with four 1"diameter cast-in-place anchor bolts with 31"of
embedment.
Based on our analysis,we have found both the sign pole and the proposed footing and anchorage to be structurally
adequate to resist code prescribed wind forces. DEI recommends fastening the pipe section of the pole to the HSS
section by inserting the pole a minimum of 8"into the HSS and welding them together with four 1/4"A'x8"
perpendicular connector plates. Please reference the attached sketch SK-1 for additional information. DEI also
recommends that the pole base plate be a 1-%"x14"x14"ASTM A36, Fy=361<si plate. Please see the attached
sketch SK-2 for further clarification.
Dibble Engineers' review is limited to the sign pole, footing, and anchorage. Unless specifically discussed in our
review, no other conditions were evaluated or considered. Our review and discussion summary does not provide
warranty either expressed or implied to the existing conditions.
Dibble Engineers appreciates your business. We invite you to please contact us with any questions or for
clarifications to our work, and we will be happy to assist.
Sincerely,
DIBBLE ENGINEERS, INC.
