• <br /> • ORDINANCE NO. 760a/02"0 / <br /> ORDINANCE establishing a Solid Waste Advisory <br /> Committee. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council, on May , 1989, adopted a Solid Waste <br /> Comprehensive Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City was assisted in the development of the Plan by a <br /> Solid Waste Planning Committee which was appointed by the Mayor; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is appropriate for there to be broad based participation <br /> in the implementation of the solid waste plan for the City of <br /> Everett including the major waste generators, the waste handling <br /> businesses, appropriate interest groups, government officials and <br /> citizens in general; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City will benefit by the assistance of a Solid Waste <br /> Advisory Committee that will provide input on the effects of solid <br /> waste actions carried out by the City; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN : <br /> Section 1 : PURPOSE <br /> A Solid Waste Advisory Committee shall be formed to make <br /> recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on solid waste issues <br /> in accordance with appropriate state laws. <br /> Section 2 : SOLID WASTE ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> The Solid Waste Advisory Committee shall consist of : <br /> A. Four ( 4) members representing business in the City of Everett , <br /> with at least one such member representing retail/commercial <br /> business and one member representing small businesses; one of <br /> whose term shall be initially for two years and thereafter for a <br /> term of six years; one of whose term shall be for four years and <br /> thereafter for a term of six years; .and two of whose term shall <br /> be for six years. <br /> B. Four ( 4) community members at large; one of whose term shall be <br /> initially for two years and thereafter for a term of six years; <br /> one of whose term shall be for four years and thereafter for a <br /> term of six years; and two of whose term shall be for six years. <br /> C. Three ( 3) members who shall be representatives of the waste <br /> management industry, provided that no less than one such person <br /> be a representative of the recycling industry; one of whose term <br /> shall initially be for two years and therafter for a term of six <br /> years; one of whose term shall be for four years and thereafter <br /> for a term of six years; and one of whose term shall be for six <br /> years . <br /> D. Two ( 2) members who are representatives of citizen organizations <br /> whose concern is the natural environment for terms of six years <br /> each. <br /> E. One ( 1 ) member who shall be a representative of a City of <br /> Everett neighborhood organization for a term of six years . <br /> F . One ( 1) member who shall be a representative of K-12 education <br /> for a term of six years . <br /> G. One ( 1 ) member who shall be a representative of the Snohomish <br /> County Labor Council for a term of six years . <br />
