This policy is not intended to require that City facilities be named _ <br /> ' . after local citizens, but rather only sets procedure for sues action. <br /> 2. Upon receiving a request from an individual or organization, or upon <br /> • its own initiative, the City Council will determine whether it is timely <br /> to consider naming a certain City facility in honor of a local citizen_ <br /> _ 3. If the City Council determines such consideration is timely, the request <br /> will be referred to the Parks and Recreation Board in the case of parks <br /> and recreation facilities, or to the•City Council in the case of all other <br /> City facilities. <br /> 4. Upon receiving recommendations, of local citizens who are to be considered <br /> in the naming of municipal facilities, buildings or parks, in their honor, <br /> the Parks and Recreation Board or the City Council will welcome and <br /> encourage the submittance of•additional names which will be held in <br /> an active file for future- consideration until the appropriate time <br /> for these names to be considered in. the naming of a Municipal facility, <br /> building, or park site. <br /> 5. After thoroughly evaluating all of the names which are submitted,.the <br /> Parks and Recreation Board, in the case of Park facilities will select <br /> the most appropriate name and forward it to the City Council for consider- <br /> _ation. The final decision on the naming of all City facilities will be <br /> made by the City Council. This decision will be made by resolution and <br /> a'copy of the resolution will be. tendered to the honored individual , or <br /> to his or her family. . • • <br /> • <br />
