(c) Claims for damages or injuries between $10,000 and $20,000 shall be <br /> allowed, disallowed or otherwise settled by a claims committee consisting of a <br /> member of the City Council, the City Attorney, the Risk Manager, and the <br /> department head from the City department from which the claim arises. <br /> (d) All claims exceeding $20,000 which have been reviewed by the City <br /> Attorney shall be submitted to the City Council for their approval, disapproval or <br /> settlement. <br /> (e) The Risk Manager, City Attorney or the claims committee may in their <br /> discretion refer any claim to the City Council. <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 4: Manner of Processing Claims. <br /> Subject to the provisions of insurance policies or pooling agreements concerning <br /> claims against the City, the City Attorney's Office shall process or coordinate the <br /> processing of all claims for damages or injuries in the following manner: <br /> (a) The Risk Manager shall be authorized to allow, disallow or settle all <br /> claims for damages up to $5,000. <br /> (b) The City Attorney with concurrence of the Risk Manager shall be <br /> authorized to allow, disallow or settle all claims up to $20,000. <br /> (c) Claims for damages or injuries between $20,000 and $50,000 shall be <br /> allowed, disallowed or otherwise settled by a claims committee consisting of the <br /> City Council President or designee, the City Attorney, the Risk Manager, and the <br /> department head from the City department from which the claim arises. <br /> (d) All claims exceeding $50,000 which have been reviewed by the City <br /> Attorney shall be submitted to the City Council for their approval, disapproval or <br /> settlement.. <br /> (e) The Risk Manager, City Attorney or the claims committee may in their <br /> discretion refer any claim to the City Council. <br /> Final Council action required on settlements and litigation will occur in an <br /> open meeting. <br /> The City Attorney shall prepare an annual summary of claims up to <br /> $50,000 to be distributed to City Council. <br /> A:q1441/144#4°" - <br /> RAY S �'HANSON, Mayor <br /> ATTEST: Qii4.4_01,.. )717? <br /> CITY CLERK <br /> Passed: 4/11/07 <br /> Valid: 4/16/07 <br /> Published: 4/18/07 <br /> Effective Date: 5/1/07 <br /> 2 <br />
