CAA Council President a, Location Preceding Action • Attachments Department(s)Approval - Legal,Police,Fire Amount Budgeted -0- Expenditure Required -0- Account Number(s): Budget Remaining -0- Additional Required -0- DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT: State law allows the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board(LCB)to recognize a geographic area within the City as an Alcohol Impact Area(AIA)-after the City establishes the AIA by ordinance and if efforts to reduce the effects of chronic public inebriation are unsuccessful after six months. The City established the Core Commercial Areas AIA pursuant to Ordinance No. 3430-15 in April of this year. Efforts by the City to reduce the effects of chronic public inebriation particularly through voluntary participation in the efforts by sellers of off-premises alcohol have been unsuccessful. This Ordinance directs the Chief of Police to request that the LCB recognize the Core Commercial Areas AIA allowing it to place mandatory conditions and restrictions on the sale of off-premises alcohol within the AIA.
