CARFAX's Investigative Tools offer many specialty applications that support
law enforcement investigations related to misuse of Vehicle Identification Numbers, odometer fraud, airbag
fraud, falsification of vehicle titles, insurance fraud and collision history. CARFAX also provides vehicle
valuation reports to the police department without charge. The data that is
shared is taken from the Washington State Collision Report and it is specific to the involved vehicles. No
personal information about drivers, witnesses or vehicle owners is provided in the shared data.
The CARFAX For Police Program Terms and Conditions establish a one-year agreement with automatic
renewal for one-year periods thereafter, until either party provides written notice to terminate the
agreement.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign the enrollment form for the CARFAX For Police Program at no cost to the City.
129
