1 ORDINANCE NO. 137," 2 AN ORDINANCE providing for submission to the qualified electors of the City of Everett, Washington, at a special 3 election to be held on September 18, 1990, of a proposition that the Everett Water System be adjusted to provide proper 4 levels of fluoride to help prevent tooth decay. 5 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett finds that the 6 qualified electors of Everett should have an opportunity to vote on whether 7 the Everett Water System should be adjusted to provide proper levels of 8 fluoride to help prevent tooth decay; 9 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 10 Section 1 : The water system of the City of Everett shall be adjusted 11 to provide proper levels of fluoride to help in the prevention of tooth 12 decay in accordance with current rules and regulations of the State of 13 Washington State Board of Health. 14 Section 2: The costs of said fluoridation shall be included as a water 15 system treatment cost. 16 Section 3: This ordinance shall be submitted to the qualified electors 17 of the City for popular vote for adoption or rejection at a special election 18 to be held on the 18th day of September, 1990. The Snohomish County Auditor 19 as ex officio supervisor of elections is hereby requested to assume 20 jurisdiction of and to call and conduct said election to be held within the 21 City and to submit to the qualified electors of the City the proposition 22 hereafter set forth. 23 The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed not less than 24 forty-five (45) days prior to September 18, 1990, to certify the following 25 proposition to the Snohomish County Auditor in the following form: 26 27 PROPOSITION NO. 1 28 FLUORIDE TO HELP PREVENT TOOTH DECAY 29 Shall an ordinance be adopted which provides that the Everett 30 Water System be adjusted to provide proper levels of fluoride to help prevent tooth decay? 31 YES 32 NO I I
