e <br /> • <br /> 1 ORDINANCE NO. <br /> 2 <br /> 3 AN ORDINANCE establishing probationary periods for new employees <br /> and amending Section 9 of Ordinance No. 1069-84. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 6 <br /> Section 1 : Section 9 of Ordinance No. 1069-84 which reads as follows: <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Section 9: Conditions of Employment. No employee shall <br /> participate in any outside business activity or employment which <br /> 9 conflicts with or detracts from the employee's job performance. <br /> 10 All new employees shall be subject to a nine (9) month <br /> probationary period. All promotional employees shall be subject <br /> 11 to a six (6) month probationary period. A new probationary <br /> employee may be terminated with no right of appeal . A <br /> 12 promotional probationary employee may be reduced in rank to his <br /> last held permanent positions with no right of appeal . No <br /> 13 officer or employee of the City shall solicit or receive any pay, <br /> commission, money or thing of value, or derive any benefit, <br /> 14 profit or advantage, directly or indirectly, from or by reason of <br /> any improvement, alteration or repair required by authority of <br /> 15 the City, or any contract to which the City shall be a party, <br /> except his lawful compensation or salary as such officer or <br /> 16 employee. No officer or employee of the City, except as <br /> otherwise provided in the charter, shall solicit, accept or <br /> 17 receive, directly or indirectly, from any public service <br /> corporation, or the owner of any public utility franchise in this <br /> 18 City, any pass, frank, free ticket, or any other service upon <br /> terms more favorable than those granted to the public generally. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 21 <br /> Section 9: Conditions of Employment.
