Y-;1> -77 • • • r t 1 ORDINANCE NO. /',5 )_ `)'9 2 AN ORDINANCE establishing the Everett Sister Cities Advisory 3 Board. 4 WHEREAS, it is known that the Sister City affiliation program has been 5 growing among the cities in the world during the past years and there are a 6 good many cities which have established Sister City affiliations in this 7 country; and 8 WHEREAS, the City of Everett adopted a resolution in August of 1962 9 officially establishing a Sister City bond between the City of Everett and 10 the City of Iwakuni , Japan; and 11 WHEREAS, the City of Everett is looking to further its ties with its 12 present Sister City and formulate other Sister City affiliations; 13 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 14 Section 1 : PURPOSE. 15 An advisory board is hereby formed which board shall be entitled the 16 "Everett Sister Cities Advisory Board." The Board shall assist the Mayor 17 and City Council by making recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on 18 Sister City related issues. 10 Section 2: BOARD - MEMBERS AND TERMS. 20 The Everett Sister Cities Advisory Board shall consist of seven (7) 21 members plus two (2) alternate members who shall attend Board meetings in 22 the absence of regular members. The members shall be appointed and removed 23 by the Mayor with the approval of City Council . The terms of the members 24 shall be in accordance with Section 5.2 of the City Charter. 25 Section 3: BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES. 26 The responsibilities of the Everett Sister Cities Advisory Board shall 27 include those responsibilities necessary to carry out the purpose of the 28 Board as set forth in Section 1 which shall include but not be limited to 29 the following: 30 A. Providing the Mayor and City Council with recommendations and 31 information concerning the Sister Cities program as well as other matters of 32 interest which are related to this program;
