J In an effort to minimize impacts to those small businesses that may be negatively affected by the RDA, the City of Everett is committed to providing services to small businesses, as outlined in the following mitigation plan: > Economic development officials will meet with any interested business owners to evaluate possible means of support. > When requested and where possible, interested businesses owners will be referred to those who have access to an inventory of other available commercial property within the City. > The City will continue with its support of Everett Chamber of Commerce and possibly other agencies that support small businesses. > The Everett Chamber in partnership with the city, will determine the needs of the businesses potentially impacted and assist as appropriate with support for additional marketing resources, broadcast communications to Chamber members to alert them to changes in status of the business impacted, etc. > If relocation of a business is eminent, the Chamber will offer information and resources to the company's employees facing displacement or relocation and will inform employees of carpool, vanpool and bus transit options. > The City will assure ongoing physical access to existing business during the Riverfront redevelopment activities. > The City will provide public notices and other information regarding Riverfront redevelopment activities. > The City will work with property owners to create a land use plan (planned development overlay) for the RDA that allows for a complementary mix of land uses that will further enhance the value of the Riverfront properties. • The Port of Everett currently owns the property upon which Diversified Industries is located. If the Port sells the site for redevelopment, the City has set aside $175,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds to assist with the relocation of this non-profit business. The Port of Everett may also be obligated to provide some relocation assistance to this business. 2
