RESOLUTION NO. 7190 : <br /> liz,:at.,; <br /> lila/ <br /> A Resolution accepting the EnvisionEverett 2037 report as a foundation for future <br /> City of Everett planning activities, and thanking the EnvisionEverett Committee <br /> members for their work. <br /> Whereas, in 2004 Mayor Ray Stephanson appointed 32 citizens, representing a wide <br /> cross-section of interests, to a Vision Team whose responsibility was to develop a <br /> shared, comprehensive vision of what Everett should become in 2025; and <br /> Whereas, in February of 2006 the Vision Team issued its report, "Vision 2025," <br /> addressing Everett's future by focusing on six topical areas: education, economic <br /> development, urban design, parks and activities, harbor-front/riverfront and <br /> transportation; and <br /> Whereas, in January of 2016 the Everett City Council and Mayor agreed to appoint <br /> a committee to review the"Vision 2025" and lay out a new vision for the next 20 <br /> years; and <br /> Whereas, the EnvisionEverett Committee was composed of 22 thoughtful <br /> and enthusiastic residents, representing a broad cross-section of the City in <br /> terms of backgrounds, geography/neighborhoods, ethnicity, and gender;and <br /> Whereas, the EnvisionEverett Committee met 11 times over a 5-month period, <br /> hearing presentations by City staff regarding the status of Everett's Vision 2025 <br /> goals and new initiatives that have been undertaken in the past decade; and <br /> Whereas, the EnvisionEverett Committee spent many hours working individually <br /> outside of those meetings crafting and editing the EnvisionEverett 2037 report; and <br /> Whereas, the EnvisionEverett 2037 report lays out a wealth of possible actions the City <br /> can take in 9 topic areas: economic development, housing, education, transportation, <br /> homelessness, crime and substance abuse, arts, culture and recreation, parks and the <br /> environment; and <br /> Whereas, the work of the EnvisionEverett Committee and the recommendations in the <br /> report touch upon many aspects and operations of the City of Everett, its citizens and <br /> its government; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF EVERETT: <br />
