As you are aware
the Everett Housing Authority (EHA) is a major funder and mission driven agency providing
supportive, affordable and subsidized housing to the residents of the city of Everett.
We are currently in the planning and early design stages of developing an 82 unit tax credit
project on 3.62 acres of the existing Baker Heights community that has been approved by
HUD for disposition.
EHA is targeting 75% of the units in this project to address homeless families with children.
We are working with the Everett School District to combine our services to help provide
support for some of the nearly 1100 students in the district that are considered homeless.
Currently, EHA is preparing for the WSHFC 9% Tax Credit application due in January 2018.
Normally, we would have benefit of the State Housing Trust Fund to assist in the financing
of this proposed development. However, due to the legislature not passing the capital
budget, it appears there will be no trust fund for 2017.
The possibility of passage of the proposed bill would help reduce the total development cost
of EHA's new development and would play a role in helping EHA provide housing assistance
to Everett's homeless families with school age children.
Sincerely
Rick Dorris
Director of Development/
Assistant Executive Director
The Housing Authority of the City of Everett
Mailing: P.O.
