. 1 ORDINANCE NO. � 17---O 2 AN ORDINANCE amending Section 201 (a) of the Uniform Housing Code 3 by amending Ordinance No. 1247-86 designating the building official and his designee as the administrators of the 4 Uniform Housing Code. 5 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 6 Section 1 : That Ordinance No. 1247-86 (Chapter 16.08 E.M.C. ) is hereby 7 amended by the adoption of the following: 8 9 Chapter 2, Section 201 (a) of the Uniform Housing Code, 1985 edition, is amended by deleting: 10 Sec. 201 (a) Authority. The building official is hereby 11 authorized and directed to enforce all of the provisions of this code. For such purposes, he shall have the powers of a law 12 enforcement officer. He is empowered to adopt and enforce rules and regulations to clarify and expand the provisions of this code 13 in conformity with the spirit and intent of its stated purpose. 14 and inserting in its place: 15 16 Sec. 2O1 (a) Authority. The building official and his designee are hereby authorized and directed to enforce all of the 17 provisions of this code. For such purposes, they shall have the powers of a law enforcement officer. They shall be empowered to 18 adopt and enforce rules and regulations to clarify and expand the provisions of this code in conformity with the spirit and intent 19 of its stated purpose. All references in this code to building official shall include the building official 's designee. 20 The building official or his designee with the approval of the 21 building official may appoint such number of technical officers and inspectors and other employees as shall be authorized from 22 time to time. Such inspectors or employees may be deputized as may be necessary to carry out the functions of the code 23 enforcement agency. 24 25 ILLIAM E.
