ENG/NEER/NG
-:s:' ' PUBL/C SERV/CES DEPARTMENT
June 12, 2017
David Kleven
Deck Pro
13110 NE 177th PL, #227
Woodinville, WA 98072
RE: Owner: Tanya King & Eric D. Bazor
Job Address: 5021 W Highland Road
Plan Check Number: B1705-019
Dear Mr. Kleven,
In response to your application for a construction permit, your plans have been examined and you
are advised that the issuance of a permit is being withheld for the reasons listed below. These
comments address building issues only. Additional revisions or additions may be required by other
departments (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the (2015 International
Building Code,) (2015 International Residential Code,) as amended by the State of Washington
and/or Washington State Energy Code 2015 Edition, and adopted by the City of Everett, unless
stated otherwise.
In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be necessary to
provide the Building Division with two new complete sets of drawings reflecting the
corrections requested.
1. The spa that is being supported by the proposed deck structure appears to exceed the
design live load of 60 psf. Please provide calculations that verify the design of the framing
system that it can withstand the loading of the spa while in-service with the occupants that
are occupying the spa. Please include design calculations and details for the gravity and
lateral framing that are designed by an engineer in Washington State.
2. On the plan views, please include section cuts along the perimeter and at critical conditions
where the connections to columns and other new framing elements are occurring as well as
details connecting the existing structure to the new framing. It is unclear, in two sections
cuts, which connection to the exterior framing is being used.
3. Please provide details for stairwells and their connections as well as their connections to
the existing structure on the drawings. For example, it is unclear how many stringers are
provided as well as the size and the spacing of stringers or their connections to stair treads.
Please provide details indicating how the handrails are attached.
CITY OF EVERETf • 3200 Cedar Street .
