r

Logs of Test Pits 8-20-2015
2616 Baker Ave
Everett, Washington
FIELD OBSERVATIONS:
Site soil characteristics appeared
fairly consistent throughout site.
The site appears underlain by
dense glacial till at about 42
inches below existing grade. The
weathered unit appeared loose,
but suitable bearing for spread
footings was evident at about 3
feet below grade. Soils appeared
looser and with less fines near
downspout discharge.
Existing foundation consists of 6x6
posts on pier blocks. Pier blocks
were about 3 inches into the soil
in the crawl space. House has
settled unevenly with about 4
inches of differential settlement
near the NE corner of the house
by the front porch. Chimney was
10 inches into the soil and had no
concrete foundation under the
brick. Existing downspouts
discharge onto the ground near
the perimeter of the house.
Addition foundations were supported
on spread footings about 12 to 14
inches below existing grade.
Crawl space has limited
headroom, estimated at about 24
inches on average.
Suitable bearing soil was visible at 3
feet below existing grade.
Recommend geotechnical
engineer confirm bearing prior to
forming spread footings.
TheGnlli Groarp- 1841_Log of Explorations Figure A-3
.
