0 <br /> Everett Station District Alliance <br /> Background Information <br /> The founders of the organization met for the first time in June 2014 and have met every month since then.It <br /> started with property owners in the Everett Station neighborhood. <br /> Year 1.The earliest project of the group was to develop a 20 year vision statement to serve as a"north star"for <br /> envisioning a vibrant neighborhood.As part of this process the group identified issues in the neighborhood and <br /> barriers to development.The group decided to form an organization to continue developing ideas for the <br /> neighborhood.It chose the name Everett Station District Alliance. Everett Transit and Community Transit were <br /> active in the meetings from the beginning.Participation remained open to anyone who had a stake of any kind <br /> (property and business owners,commuters,adjacent neighborhoods,commercial areas of the city dependent on <br /> the transit center for staff and customers)in the quality of the neighborhood around the Transit Center,City of <br /> Everett Planning Department staff have attended and participated actively in meetings from the beginning. <br /> Year 2.During the second year the organization accomplished the following: <br /> 1. Researched community developments nationally for case examples of neighborhoods like the Everett <br /> Station area that had transformed around transit systems.Selected the top 6 examples and created <br /> visuals to describe these success stories. <br /> 2. Recruited Mithun Architects to create renderings of what the neighborhood could look like in 5 years, 10 <br /> years and 20 years based on an infill development approach.Incorporated conceptualization of building <br /> types and transit connections into the renderings. <br /> 3. Convened 100 community leaders(transit,corporate,education,neighborhood and property owners)for <br /> a FORUM on the Everett Station neighborhood vision and opportunities for development. <br /> Year 3. During the third year the focus included: <br /> 1. Created a website for the organization <br /> 2. Recruited a fiscal agent <br /> 3. Convened five workshops of subject matter experts with key community stakeholders to develop <br /> recommendations:parking,safety,development environment,transit connections,green environment. <br /> 4. Established a Membership Model and enrolled 38 dues paying members. <br /> 5. Organized a training on Public Development Authorities in the State of Washington. <br /> 6. Recruited Sound Transit and PSRC to attend ESDA monthly meetings and provide relevant updates. <br /> Year 4. During the fourth year(to date)the activities have included: <br /> 1. Prepared a report on"Recommendations for Neighborhood Transformation",based on outcomes from <br /> the five workshops.Presented the report to Snohomish County Council(the funder),City of Everett <br /> Planning Council and Everett City Council). <br /> 2. Adopted Articles of Incorporation,By-Laws,secured incorporation as a nonprofit entity through the <br /> Washington Secretary of State's office. <br /> 3. Established a Board of Directors <br /> 4. Filed for 501c3 status with the IRS <br /> 5. Recruited Dykeman Architects to produce a rendering depicting a vibrant community center concept <br /> along 32"d street between Smith and McDougall. <br /> 6. Organized a presentation on the nature,extent and legislated authority of Business Improvement <br /> Associations in the State of Washington. <br /> 7. Hosted a forum for Everett Station District property and business owners to inform them about the ESDA <br /> vision and plans. <br /> 130 <br />
