City of Everett and Council,
My name is Ryan, my apologies for I cannot introduce myself in
person because of a preplanned family vacation.
Briefly about me, I grew up in south Everett, I attended Fairmount
Elementary, then Explorer Jr. High and then on to Mariner High where
I met my wife. Misty and I went on to attend and graduated from the
UW. We now have two awesome daughters, Posey (11 ),Harper (7)
and our cat Paprika (3). The girls attend Northshore Christian
Academy in Everett.
My professional career started by working for my grandfather in the
family apartment business. As one does, I started at the bottom. I
quickly proved myself by working hard, using creative thinking and my
ability to solve problems and deal with emergencies. 20 years later,
still work the family business with my wife. Now we own our own
properties and partner with my uncle on others. My wife, and I are
now the third generation in a successful Everett business. We also
operate many locations of low barrier housing and we have helped
house refugees and low income families trying to make a better life.
The business also allowed us to create a 501c3 in order to give back
to the community in the form of goods like diapers, formula, school
supplies, and eventually we will start sustainability programs. Along
with that, we try to give back using Everett' based businesses
whenever possible.
I think some of the ideas with housing and programs I have can
eventually have a real impact on the opioid use epidemic and
resultant homelessness. I have also been responsible for many
emergency situations from fires and floods, to sewer backups and
other dangerous situations. I have always answered the call and
helped people through hard situations with quick and decisive
thinking. Working with my diverse and multi cultural staff of 47 people
has also taught me how to mediate situations, and become a team
player.
