Geotechnical Report
'roposed Student Housing: 931 Broadway Street, Everett, Washington
December 8, 2015
different elevations. The descriptions of groundwater conditions and depths are likewise
approximate. The following is a generalized description of the soils encountered in the
borings.
Asphalt/Fill: At our boring locations, we encountered 2 to 3 inches of asphalt
pavement over a thin layer of crushed rock base course over fill soils generally
comprised of loose, silty sand with organics. The existing fill extended to depths of
. 2'/z feet in boring PG-1 (located on the east side of the existing building), and to
about 5 feet in borings PG-2 and PG-3 (west side of the existing building). The fill
, was characterized by its dark brown color and loose consistency.
Vashon Till (Qvt): Underlying the fill, the test borings encountered medium dense
to very dense silty fine to medium sand with gravel which we classified as Vashon
Till. The upper approximately two to three feet of the till unit was weathered and
medium dense grading to dense to very dense below the weathered material. All test
borings were terminated in this soil unit.
(ur subsurface descriptions are based on the conditions encountered at the time of our
f;xploration. Soil conditions between our exploration locations may vary from those
f;ncountered. The nature and extent of variations between our exploratory locations may
lot become evident until construction. If variations do appear, PanGEO should be
requested to reevaluate the recommendations in this report and to modify or verify them
in writing prior to proceeding with earthwork and construction.
,3.4 GROUNDWATER
lvidence of groundwater seepage was not observed in our borings at the time of drilling.
'I'he till underlying the site generally has low permeability and perched groundwater may
develop on top of the till, ar in lenses of more permeable soil within the till formation. If
f.ncountered, we anticipate groundwater seepage rates will be minor.
'There will be fluctuations in seepage depending on the season, amount of rainfall, surface
water runoff, and other factors. Generally, the water level is higher and seepage rates are
,reater in the wetter, winter months (typically October through May).
I 5-275 931 (3roadway,Everett P1g2 4 PanC'iEO, InC.
