• 1 telephonic, video, data, or similar communication or transmission for 2 hire, via a local telephone network, toll line or channel, or similar 3 communication or transmission system. It includes cooperative or 4 farmer line telephone companies or associations operating an exchange. 5 "Telephone business" does not include the providing of competitive 6 telephone services, nor the providing of cable television services. 7 3. "Competitive telephone service" means the providing by any 8 person of telephone equipment, apparatus, or service, other than toll 9 service, which is of a type which can be provided by persons that are 10 not subject to regulation as telephone companies under Title 80 RCW and 11 for which a separate charge is made. 12 C. Upon every person engaged in or carrying on the sale of 13 artificial, natural, or mixed gasses, a tax equal to four and one-half 14 percent (4.5%) of the total gross revenues derived from the operation of 15 such business within the City of Everett, which shall be paid monthly on or 16 before the 20th day of the following month. 17 D. Upon every person engaged in or carrying on the sale of 18 electrical power, a tax equal to four and one-half percent (4.5%) of the 19 total gross revenues derived from the sale of electricity within the City of 20 Everett, exclusive of revenues derived from the sale of electricity for 21 purposes of resale, which shall be paid monthly on or before the 20th day of 22 the following month. 23 Section 2: EFFECTIVE DATE. From and after the date that all taxes 24 assessed under Ordinance No. 1022-84 are collected by the City, Ordinance 25 No. 1022-84 shall thereafter be of no further effect. This ordinance shall 26 take effect on January 1, 1987, and the taxes provided for in this ordinance 27 shall be effective and applicable for all gross revenue received on and 28 after January 1, 1987. 29 30 31 32 2
