- • 0, . <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3o1-W6 <br /> 2 AN ORDINANCE establishing wastewater pretreatment regulations. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 5 Section 1: PURPOSE AND POLICY. <br /> 6 This ordinance sets forth uniform requirements for Dischargers into the <br /> 7 City of Everett (City) Municipal Sewer System and enables the City to <br /> 8 protect public health in conformity with all applicable local, State, and <br /> 9 Federal laws relating thereto. <br /> 10 The objectives of this ordinance are: <br /> 11 A. To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the City's <br /> 12 Municipal Sewer System, which will interfere with the normal operation of <br /> 13 the system or contaminate the resulting municipal sludge; <br /> 14 B. To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the City's <br /> 15 Municipal Sewer System, which do not receive adequate treatment in the <br /> 16 Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) , and which will pass through the <br /> 17 system into receiving waters or the atmosphere or otherwise be incompatible <br /> 18 with the system; and <br /> 19 C. To improve the opportunity to recycle and reclaim wastewater and <br /> 20 sludge from the system. <br /> 21 Section 2: DEFINITIONS. <br /> 22 The following definitions apply to this ordinance: <br /> 23 A. Act. The Clean Water Act, 33 U.S.C. 1251, et seq. , as amended. <br /> 24 B. Applicable Pretreatment Standards. Any federal, state or city <br /> 25 discharge prohibition or standard whichever is most stringent. <br /> 26 C. Categorical Pretreatment Standards. National Pretreatment <br /> 27 Standards specifying quantities or concentrations of pollutant or pollutant <br /> 28 properties which may be discharged or introduced into the Municipal Sewer <br /> 29 System by specific Industrial Dischargers. <br /> 30 D. City. City of Everett, Washington. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
