1 ORDINANCE NO. / /-P6 <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending the rates for sewer service in the City <br /> 3 of Everett and amending Sections 1A, 1B, 1C and 3 of Ordinance <br /> No. 627-79 (EMC 14.04.020 and 14.04.025) . <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett finds that increased <br /> 6 <br /> sewer service charges are necessary to meet increased maintenance and <br /> 7 <br /> operation costs and to expand the wastewater treatment plant capacity; and <br /> 8 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the charges herein are reasonable; <br /> 9 <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 10 <br /> Section 1: Sections 1A, 1B and 1C of Ordinance No. 627-79 (EMC <br /> 11 <br /> 14.04.020) are hereby amended in full to read hereafter as follows: <br /> 12 <br /> 13 The charges for the collection and disposal of sanitary sewage <br /> waste for the classes of users connected and to be connected to <br /> 14 the sanitary sewer system or the combined sewer system are hereby <br /> fixed as follows: <br /> 15 <br /> A. Single family residence: $8.95 per month <br /> 16 State utility tax at 3.852% of <br /> total system revenues .35 per month <br /> 17 $9.30 per month <br /> 18 B. For other than single family residence (multiple family <br /> residence, commercial and industrial users, etc. ) the rate <br /> 19 shall be computed in accordance with the following formula: <br /> 20 Sewer service charge per month = <br /> 21 Metered water usage X $8.95 <br /> 900 cubic feet <br /> 22 <br /> In addition, the cost of state utility tax shall be <br /> 23 charged, currently at the rate of .03852 x sewer service <br /> charge per month. <br /> 24 <br /> Where the use of water is such that a portion of all of the water <br /> 25 delivered to the customer does not discharge into a City sewer <br /> due to commercial or industrial use, such as loss by evaporation <br /> 26 or any other cause or use in manufactured products, such as ice, <br /> canned goods, beverages and the like, no sewer service charge <br /> 27 shall be made because of water so used or lost; provided, <br /> however, the water user shall provide proof as to the amount of <br /> 28 sewage discharge and/or install a meter or other measuring device <br /> approved by the City Engineer to determine either the amount of <br /> 29 sewage discharge or the amount of water so used or lost. <br /> 30 <br /> Section 2: State Utility Tax. The Mayor is authorized to increase <br /> 31 <br /> or decrease the sewer charge herein by the amount of any change in the State <br /> 32 <br />
