• y <br /> , <br /> 1 CITY OF EVERETT, WASHINGTON <br /> 2 ORDINANCE NO. /Z 2 <br /> 3 <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing the non-salary items of compensation <br /> 4 granted the appointive officers and elected officials of the City of <br /> Everett and amending Ordinance No. 1004-84, and declaring an <br /> 5 emergency to exist. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 WHEREAS, Chapter 189, Laws of 1985 amended RCW 1.16.050, relating to the <br /> 8 celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday and President's Day, to be celebrated <br /> 9 in lieu of Lincoln's and Washington's Birthdays; and <br /> 10 WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to celebrate a holiday schedule <br /> 11 which is consistent with those observed by the State of Washington and other <br /> 12 governmental jurisdictions commencing in 1986; <br /> 13 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 14 Section 1: Section 1(C) of Ordinance No. 1004-84 which reads as follows: <br /> 15 <br /> C. The following days are hereby designated paid holidays for those <br /> 16 Appointive Officers in pay status on the day before and the day <br /> after the holiday: <br /> 17 <br /> New Year's Day <br /> 18 Lincoln's Birthday <br /> Washington's Birthday <br /> 19 Memorial Day <br /> Independence Day <br /> 20 Labor Day <br /> Veteran's Day <br /> 21 Thanksgiving Day <br /> Day After Thanksgiving Day <br /> 22 Christmas Day <br /> One Floating Holiday <br /> 23 <br /> 24 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 25 <br /> C.
