Through a competitive grant application and screening process, Cultural Arts <br /> Commission awards grant support. The Commission recommends the art organizations identified in the <br /> attachment receive funding to support capital projects. The 2018 capital grant awards total $7,500. <br /> In addition to capital grants,the Cultural Arts Commission has supported performing,visual and literary <br /> organizations by awarding annual programming grants for thirty three years. Through a competitive grant <br /> application and screening process,the Commission makes awards based upon criteria such as non-profit <br /> status, Everett-based priority and the ability to provide matching funds. These awards enable artists and <br /> organizations to develop,produce and exhibit quality artwork and programs. They also increase exposure of <br /> the arts to the public and strengthen partnerships with the artistic community. It is recommended that the arts <br /> organizations identified in the attachment receive grant funding and/or a fee waiver to use the Everett <br /> Performing Arts Center to support their programming projects. Programming Grant Awards total$32,500. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Approve the 2018 Cultural Arts Capital &Programming Grant Awards as designated in an amount not to <br /> exceed $40,000. <br /> 57 <br />
