I <br /> B. Provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to dewater trench and structure <br /> excavations, in accordance with the requirements of the Contract Documents. <br /> C. Secure all necessary permits to complete the requirements of this Section. <br /> D. Control the rate and effect of the dewatering in such a manner as to avoid all objectionable <br /> settlement and subsidence. <br /> E. Where the critical structures or facilities exist immediately adjacent to areas of proposed <br /> dewatering, reference points shall be established and observed at frequent intervals to detect <br /> any settlement which may develop. <br /> 1. The responsibility for conducting the dewatering operation in a manner which will protect I <br /> adjacent structures and facilities rests solely with the Contractor. <br /> 2. The cost of repairing any damage to adjacent structures and restoration of facilities shall <br /> be the responsibility of the Contractor. <br /> PART 2 PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 EQUIPMENT <br /> Dewatering, where required, may include the use of well points, sump pumps, temporary pipelines <br /> for water disposal,rock or gravel placement, and other means. Standby pumping equipment shall be <br /> maintained on the jobsite. I <br /> PART 3 EXECUTION 1 <br /> 3.1 DEWATERING <br /> A. Provide all equipment necessary for dewatering. I <br /> 1. Have on hand, at all times, sufficient pumping equipment and machinery in good working <br /> condition. <br /> 2. Have available, at all times, competent workers for the operation of the pumping <br /> equipment. I <br /> 3. Adequate standby equipment shall be kept available at all times to insure efficient <br /> dewatering and maintenance of dewatering operation during power failure. <br /> B. Dewatering for structures and pipelines shall commence when groundwater is first <br /> encountered, and shall be continuous until such times as water can be allowed to rise in <br /> accordance with the provisions of this Section or other requirements. <br /> C. Site Grading: <br /> 1. At all times, site grading shall promote drainage. <br /> 2.
