It continues to function as the only
municipal swimming facility in Everett. Many of the center's internal and operational components are
nearing the end of their useful life.
In 2017,the swim center began upgrading and replacing the equipment controls and other electrical system
components. This project builds on the previous work and includes the installation of new LED lighting
throughout the Natatorium and Spa areas, as well as the addition of a new redundant pump system. The new
pump system would allow for continuity of pool operations in the event of one of the two pumps failing. In
addition, the current lighting needs to be replaced in order to maintain mandated lighting levels.
This funding may also be used for engineering, consulting, and architecture design services to evaluate and
prioritize future repairs and improvements.
. RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Adopt an Ordinance creating a special improvement project entitled"Forest Park Swim Center Renovation
and Repairs Project", Fund 354,Program 055,to accumulate all costs for the improvement project.
11
