Passenger Transportation Routes and Capacity <br />Public transportation routes are shown on Figure 2.7. <br />Interstate and International Services <br />The Amtrak Cascades runs two trains per day in each direction through Everett between Los <br />Angeles and Vancouver BC. The Amtrak Empire Builder operates one train per day in each <br />direction through Everett between Seattle and Chicago. The Amtrak trains run seven days a week <br />with an average of more than 100 passengers per day at the Everett Station. <br />Greyhound operates twelve trips per day from Seattle through Everett to Vancouver BC and east <br />to Wenatchee and Spokane. <br />Regional Transit Services <br />Regional transit services are provided by Sound Transit and Community Transit. <br />The Sounder Commuter Rail operated by Sound Transit on the BNSF rail lines provides two <br />commuter trains southbound from Everett to Seattle every weekday morning and two afternoon <br />trains northbound from Seattle to Everett Monday through Friday. The Sounder commuter trains <br />average 350 riders per weekday. Additional service is provided for special events such as NFL <br />Football and MLB Baseball games in Seattle. Commuters are also allowed to board Amtrak <br />trains for the Everett to Seattle service. <br />Sound Transit also operates four express bus routes on I-5 from Everett Station to Lynnwood, <br />Seattle, Bothell and Bellevue. Connections may be made at several key regional centers to access <br />buses and trains to other destinations in King County and Pierce County. The regional Sound <br />Express bus service is provided seven days a week. <br />Community Transit operates twenty-one bus routes in the Everett comprehensive planning area, <br />making connections to all parts of Snohomish County and some destinations in King County <br />such as the University of Washington. Most services in the City of Everett use I-5 and US 2 to <br />access the Everett Station and service is provided seven days a week. <br />Peak hour regional commuter service is also provided by Community Transit along Evergreen <br />Way, Rucker Avenue and Broadway. Special commuter buses provide custom service to large <br />employers such as Boeing from residential areas in Snohomish County. <br />TRANSPORTATION ELEMENT 17 <br />
