Itis the opinion of GeoDesign that the
foundation subgrade is currently suitable for support of the intended structure.
Lot 212:
Today, GeoDesign noted that DDS had backfilled the previously over-excavated area on Lot 212 with a 2-inch railroad
ballast material that was compacted into a firm and unyielding mass. It is the opinion of GeoDesign that the foundation
subgrade is currently suitable for support of the intended structure.
Lot 226:
Today, GeoDesign noted that DDS had excavated the foundation and crawl-space area for Lot 226. During our morning
site visit, GeoDesign observed an area along the west side of Lot 226 which would require 1 to 1.5 feet of over-excavation
down to firm and unyielding material. DDS had over-excavated the previously identified area down to firm and unyielding
material. During our afternoon site visit, GeoDesign noted and identified material along the north and east side of Lot 226
which could be probed 6-12 inches.
Relative compaction of the exposed foundation subgrade material was tested using a Troxler 3430 Moisture-Density gauge.
In-place density tests indicated that the material along the west and south side of Lot 226 had been compacted to greater
than 95%of its maximum dry density. Material along the north and east side of Lot 226 had been compacted to less than
95%of its maximum dry density. GeoDesign notified the client that the area(marked in orange paint)would require
over-excavation down to firm and unyielding material
A summary of our observations and density tests can be found in the attached Figure 1, Nuclear Density Gauge Data, and
Photo Log.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not include supervision or direction of the contractor, the contractor's employees
or agents. Our firm is not responsible for site safety. This field report is a DRAFT representation of our field observations, testing, and preliminary recommendations. The report can only be considered
final upon review of the GeoDesign project manager,as indicated by initials in the"Reviewed By'section.
10700 Meridian Avenue North,Suite 402 I Seattle,WA 98133 I 206.838.9900 ""
2502 Jefferson Avenue I Tacoma,WA 98402 I 253.203.0095
